Shanghai Ranking: LMU is the best German university

LMU ranks 43rd in the latest Academic Ranking of World Universities, putting it among the top 50 universities in the world.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2024 published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy shows LMU Munich rising a whole 16 places up the ranking list since last year. This distinguishes LMU as the best German university in this renowned ranking once again. LMU ranks sixth among continental European universities.
The research-centered ranking is based mainly on the analysis of publications and citations in the Web of Science and the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals.
